Concerned about water scarcity?

Ways to save water in agriculture

With water scarcity spreading and intensifying around the globe, there is great interest in finding ways to better conserve water. Much attention has been given to opportunities to save water in irrigated agriculture, but many field trials have not yielded the water savings that were expected, and many claims of potential water savings have been exaggerated.

This paper presents different cases studies about a variety of ways to reduce consumptive water use in irrigated agriculture. As well cases in which saved water is shared or traded with other users, including environmental restoration.
